Cost of Living in New Zealand
Most full time courses for international students are between NZD13,000 - NZD17,000. The cost of living in New Zealand is approximately NZD12,000 - NZD14,000 but actual costs will vary depending on your lifestyle and accommodation. To help offset the costs of study, International students can work up to 20 hours per week during the term and if their course is longer than 12 months, they may apply to work over the summer term (November - March).
The minimum wage for employees aged 16 years and over in New Zealand is $12.50 an hour before tax as of 1 April 2008. That's $96 for an eight hour day, or $480 for a 40 hour week. If you are successful in finding work you could earn $240 per week while studying.
Insurance
All international students are required to be covered by an appropriate medical and travel insurance policy for the duration of their study period in New Zealand as this is a New Zealand government mandate. We can help you arrange insurance either in India or when you arrive in New Zealand. |
